West Ham Forward Michail Antonio Hospitalized Following Ferrari Crash in Essex

West Ham United striker Michail Antonio is recovering in a central London hospital after being involved in a serious car accident in Essex on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred in Epping and involved Antonio’s Ferrari, which was heavily damaged.

 

Emergency services were called to the scene at 1:02 pm, with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirming that a man was trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters successfully freed the individual by 1:45 pm, and he was handed over to the Ambulance Service. Police are currently investigating the crash and have appealed to the public for witnesses or dashcam footage.

West Ham released a statement expressing concern for their player, noting that Antonio, 34, is “conscious and communicating” but remains under close medical supervision. “At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family,” the club added, promising further updates when appropriate.

 

Antonio, a Jamaican international who joined West Ham in 2015, has been a pivotal figure for the club, scoring 68 goals in 268 league appearances. The club’s earlier statement extended their “thoughts and prayers” to the forward and his loved ones.

 

Images of the damaged Ferrari circulated online shortly after the incident, raising alarm among fans and the football community. Essex Police have launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the collision.
