Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of neglecting Rivers State during his tenure as minister.
Wike made the accusation on Saturday at a civic reception held in his honour at Omagwa, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The FCT minister alleged that Amaechi, who is the 2027 vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), failed to prioritise the development of Rivers State while serving as Minister of Transportation.
Wike specifically accused Amaechi of taking the proposed transportation university to Daura rather than locating the institution in Rivers State.
The allegation adds a fresh dimension to the growing political rivalry between the two prominent Rivers politicians ahead of the 2027 general election.
Wike, who served as governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023, has remained an influential figure in the state’s political affairs.
