Yobe students excel in NECO exams, win inter-state contest

Yobe State is basking in the glow of success as students from public schools celebrate exceptional performances in the National Examination Council (NECO) exams. Adding to the jubilation, students from Fika Government Secondary School have emerged as champions in an inter-state competition.
The prestigious contest, coordinated by the Nigerian Army Theatre Operation Hadin Kai, brought together students from Yobe, Adamawa, and Borno states. The news of their triumph has sparked widespread joy on social media platforms.
One student, Muhammad Lawan from Government Science Technical College (GSTC) Potiskum, not only achieved outstanding grades in the NECO exams, but also attained remarkable scores.
Brimming with gratitude, he expressed, “I am overwhelmed with joy by my success in these exams. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Governor Mai-Mala Buni for generously sponsoring us, relieving us of the financial burden of exam fees.”
Fatima Abubakar, a student at Government Girls Secondary School, Damaturu, described her educational journey as challenging yet rewarding.
She shared, “I am thrilled that my hard work has paid off. My teachers and the support of the Yobe State Government have played a crucial role in my success.”
Isa Mohammed, representing Government Day Secondary School, Gashua, expressed his gratitude for the educational opportunities provided by the state government.
He emphasized, “This success belongs to all those who believe in the transformative power of education and not just me.”
Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education of the State, expressed overwhelming joy in witnessing the unprecedented progress in Yobe’s education sector under the leadership of Governor Mai-Mala Buni.
He commended the collective efforts made to address the challenges faced by the state’s educational system.
Dr. Sani further revealed that Fika Government Secondary School received a cash prize of N500,000 as recognition for their victory.
He concluded by highlighting that the Yobe education sector is emerging as one of the finest in the country, with recent accomplishments in NECO exams and the competition organised by the Nigerian Army’s Theatre Operation Hadin Kai.
