The Osun State Government is facing questions over the disbursement of ₦47 million for the construction of four classrooms at Iwo Muslim Comprehensive Junior School in Iwo Local Government Area, with an investigation indicating that the project has not been implemented.
According to the Osun State Q4 2025 Budget Implementation Report (BIR), ₦47 million was disbursed for the construction of the four-classroom block at the school.
However, findings from an investigation into the project indicate that despite the reported 100 per cent disbursement, no new block of classrooms has been constructed at the school.
The school, the investigation revealed, still has dilapidated classroom blocks, raising questions over the status and utilisation of the funds reportedly released for the project.
The discrepancy between the reported full disbursement and the absence of the intended infrastructure has consequently triggered calls for transparency and accountability from the agency responsible for implementing the project.
The Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), identified as the implementing agency, has been urged to publicly provide detailed information on the project, including how the ₦47 million released for the construction was utilised.
The development has also heightened concerns over the monitoring of public education projects and the need to ensure that funds appropriated for critical infrastructure in public schools translate into actual projects on the ground.
The situation warrants clarification from the implementing agency to establish the current status of the project and account for the funds reportedly disbursed.
The Osun State Government and SUBEB are expected to address the concerns and provide documentary evidence of expenditure and implementation to enable the public ascertain what became of the ₦47 million allocated to the project.
