22-year-old South African musician, Tyla, on Sunday won her first Grammy award for the “Best African Music Performance” category with her Billboard-charting song, “Water.”
“I never thought I’d say I’ve won a Grammy at 22-years old. If you don’t know me, my name is Tyla and I’m from South Africa, and last year God decided to change my whole life, so thank you so much to God, my team and my family,” Tyla said as she accepted her award.
The Billboard-charting artist was up against multi-award-winning artists in her category, among them Afrobeats giants, Davido and Burna Boy.
