The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation after a 60-year-old man reportedly died in a hotel while in the company of his 20-year-old lover in Dutse.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, after the man checked into the hotel with the young woman. According to the police, the pair ordered a meal before the man suddenly developed a medical emergency and began gasping for air.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command said officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded immediately after receiving a distress call and rushed the man to the General Hospital, Dutse, where doctors confirmed him dead.
Police detectives later searched the hotel room and recovered food items, drinks, a suspected sexual enhancement substance and other personal belongings, all of which have been taken in for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The deceased’s body was subsequently released to his family for burial following their request.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old woman who was with the deceased is cooperating with investigators and providing information to help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
