In the lead-up to the Ondo State governorship election scheduled for this Saturday, former Nigerian Vice President and prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has issued a clarion call for Ondo residents to rally behind the party’s candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi.
In a statement released Tuesday, Atiku emphasised the need for a decisive shift in governance, urging the people of Ondo State to embrace an administration focused on tangible development and the welfare of citizens.
Describing Ajayi as a seasoned and capable leader, Atiku noted that the PDP candidate embodies the values and expertise needed to address the state’s economic and social challenges, restoring hope to the “Sunshine State.” According to Atiku, Ajayi’s leadership would be instrumental in transforming Ondo State into a beacon of progress.
“This election is a crucial moment for Ondo State to embrace prosperity and progress. The APC has shown time and again that it prioritizes party interests over the people’s well-being,” Atiku stated.
“The people now have a chance to reject ineffective leadership and choose a path that promises genuine growth and transformation.”
Atiku also took the opportunity to warn election officials and volunteers against engaging in any form of malpractice, stressing that the PDP would not tolerate actions that undermine the integrity of the voting process.
“The PDP stands resolute against any attempts to thwart the will of the electorate in this election,” he cautioned.
In a rallying message to the people of Ondo, Atiku urged voters to remain vigilant and ensure their voices are heard. “A strong turnout sends a powerful message that Ondo State demands progress,” he said, adding, “When the tide of support rises high, it becomes impossible to suppress.”
With the election drawing near, Atiku’s endorsement reinforces the PDP’s determination to wrest control of Ondo State from the ruling party, which he claims has failed to deliver on its promises to the people.
