Oladele Balogun Bankole has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary election for Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency after recording a sweeping victory across the ten wards of the constituency.

The Returning Officer of the party, Kassim Otono, declared Balogun winner after he polled a total of 3,368 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Adetutu Owolabi and Paul Johnson, who secured 783 and 1,663 votes respectively.

Announcing the result, Otono said: “Oladele Bankole Balogun, having scored the highest number of votes in the Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency primary election, is hereby declared the winner.”

The outcome cements Balogun’s position as the APC flagbearer for the forthcoming House of Representatives election in the constituency, following what party members described as a keenly contested primary.

Supporters of the victorious candidate erupted in celebration shortly after the announcement, hailing the result as a reflection of the confidence reposed in Balogun’s leadership and political structure across Akoko-Edo.
