Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Emperor Jarrete Tenebe has finally broken silence on former governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, declaring that politics must be driven by strategy, consistency and results rather than emotions and propaganda.

The APC chairman stated this in a post on social media today, Wednesday, where he reflected on his political support for Ize-Iyamu and the outcome of the party’s governorship campaigns over the years.

In the statement sighted by Uptown Press, he said he had invested years of loyalty, commitment, energy and political goodwill into the growth of the party and the State, stressing that “truth must be spoken” regardless of how uncomfortable it may sound.

According to him, politics cannot survive on blind loyalty, noise or emotional sentiments, but must instead be anchored on trust, performance and the ability to secure victory when it matters most.

The party chieftain recalled how he threw his full support behind Ize-Iyamu during the 2016 governorship election, saying he committed enormous resources and political energy because he genuinely believed in the project.

“I supported Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu with sincerity and commitment. In 2016, I gave everything within my reach toward his governorship ambition because I believed in the project and in the possibility of success,” he stated.

He, however, lamented that despite the sacrifices and mobilisation efforts, the expected victory did not materialise.

The APC chairman further revealed that he again backed Ize-Iyamu during the 2020 governorship election with renewed determination, believing lessons had been learnt from the previous outing.

“In 2020, I stood once again with the same determination and commitment. I mobilised support, strengthened structures, and worked tirelessly because I believed that perhaps lessons had been learned and that a different outcome would emerge,” he said.

According to him, his concern has never been about political ambition, but whether such ambition is supported by strategy, consistency and the ability to inspire confidence among party loyalists and the electorate.

He also alluded to political alignments and decisions taken during critical moments within the APC, noting that while every politician has the right to support preferred candidates, loyalty and consistency to a broader political vision remain crucial.

Tenebe dismissed attempts by supporters and social media loyalists to allegedly distort political realities through emotional narratives.

“History and political realities cannot be rewritten by emotions alone,” he declared.

The APC chairman maintained that leadership requires wisdom, courage, loyalty and the proven capacity to convert political opportunities into victories and meaningful progress for the people.
