The Edo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Jerry Uwangue, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day, urging citizens to remain committed to the ideals of democratic governance and collective development.
In a goodwill message released on Friday, Uwangue described Democracy Day as a celebration of the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic system and the enduring power of the people’s voice in shaping governance.
The commissioner noted that the occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in strengthening democratic institutions and advancing the welfare of citizens across the country.
“Today, we celebrate the resilience of our democracy and the enduring power of the people’s voice,” he stated.
Uwangue reaffirmed the commitment of the Edo State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to implementing policies and programmes aimed at enhancing food production, stimulating economic growth and promoting sustainable development across the state.
According to him, agriculture remains a critical pillar for economic transformation, job creation and food sufficiency, stressing that the ministry will continue to pursue initiatives that improve the livelihoods of farmers and strengthen the state’s food value chain.
The commissioner called on residents of Edo State to continue supporting government efforts geared towards building a more prosperous and secure society.
He expressed optimism that through collaboration between government and citizens, the state would achieve greater economic prosperity and food security.
“Together, let us continue to build a stronger, more prosperous, and secure Edo State,” he said.
