“Explain How PFIPC Ended Up in 2026 Budget”, Adeyemi Fires Back at Gbajabiamila

The embattled Director-General of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) and the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has challenged Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to explain how the PFIPC appeared in the 2026 Appropriation Budget despite claims that the agency does not exist.

Adeyemi also called on President Bola Tinubu to constitute an independent panel to investigate what he described as alleged financial irregularities and misconduct involving the Chief of Staff.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Adeyemi said Gbajabiamila’s public disclaimer distancing his office from both PEAC and PFIPC had failed to answer critical questions surrounding the agencies.

He recalled that on June 11, 2026, the Chief of Staff publicly denied the existence of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

Rejecting the disclaimer, Adeyemi insisted that Nigerians deserved answers rather than outright denials.

“Let’s even assume that the agency did not exist, then how did its name find its way into the 2026 Appropriation Budget on pages 50 and 51? If the agency does not exist, yet it appears in the Nigerian national budget, does that mean that the entire 2026 Appropriation Budget is a fraud?” he queried.

He argued that the national budget passes through extensive executive and legislative scrutiny before approval, making it impossible for an agency’s name to appear without due administrative processes.

Adeyemi further questioned why the PFIPC allegedly has authenticated administrative records, budgetary allocations and banking arrangements, including domiciliary accounts, a pounds sterling account and a Treasury Single Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria, if it is truly non-existent.

According to him, the process of opening accounts with the Central Bank begins through the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

The PEAC Director-General also alleged that there had been attempts in some quarters to portray his diplomatic engagements as acts of espionage or disloyalty, an allegation he firmly rejected.

He urged President Tinubu to establish an independent investigative panel comprising relevant government agencies, credible civil society organisations, international bodies and members of the media to thoroughly examine the issues.

Adeyemi further demanded that Gbajabiamila be compelled to produce all official documents he has signed since assuming office for forensic examination and step aside pending the outcome of the investigation.

He also called for a transparent review of all budgetary references and institutional records relating to the PFIPC and PEAC.

“If I am wrong, let an independent process prove it, and if Gbajabiamila is right, let the process also confirm it,” Adeyemi declared.
