A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, has expressed deep regret over his involvement in the party’s ongoing internal crisis, declaring that his life is now in danger amid escalating tensions.

Bala made the disclosure while reacting to the lingering leadership dispute within the opposition party, which has been plagued by factional divisions and power struggles in recent weeks.

In a statement that has further intensified the controversy, he admitted that he never anticipated the crisis would spiral to its current level, saying: “I regret my role in the ADC crises. I did not know it would reach this level. My life is in danger.”

The ADC has been battling internal wrangling, with rival factions accusing each other of anti-party activities, leadership imposition, and attempts to hijack the party structure ahead of future elections.

Bala’s outcry comes amid reports of disagreements surrounding leadership transitions and claims that he was misled in some of the decisions that fueled the crisis.

Although details of the alleged threats remain unclear, his statement has heightened concerns over the deteriorating political atmosphere within the party, raising fresh questions about unity and stability in the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
