The Editorial and Publicity Community Development Service (CDS) Group of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, has embarked on an educational outreach to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Edo State, as part of efforts to promote civic awareness and democratic participation among young Nigerians.
The courtesy visit, held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, aligns with the group’s mandate to positively impact host communities through educational initiatives that foster learning, civic responsibility and personal development.
The corps members were warmly received by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo State, Mr. Obo Effanga, alongside the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Dr. Samuel Onyemachi Sunday.
During the interactive session, the INEC officials enlightened the corps members on Nigeria’s electoral process, voter education, civic responsibilities and the critical role citizens play in sustaining credible elections and democratic governance.
The outreach provided participants with firsthand knowledge of the Commission’s operations while reinforcing the importance of active civic participation and informed electoral engagement.
The NYSC Editorial and Publicity CDS Group said the visit reflects its commitment to community development through impactful educational programmes that empower young people with knowledge capable of driving positive social change.
