Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, has paid glowing tribute to the Presiding Archbishop of the Church of God Mission International, Archbishop Margaret Benson-Idahosa, as she marks her 83rd birthday, describing her as “a living legend of faith, compassion and transformation.”
In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions lauded the revered cleric’s unwavering commitment to the service of God, humanity and nation-building, noting that her influence has continued to shape generations of believers across Nigeria and beyond.
“Today, we celebrate not only a remarkable milestone in age but also an extraordinary life devoted to God’s service, humanity and nation-building,” Senator Imasuen said. “Archbishop Margaret Idahosa remains an enduring symbol of unwavering faith, humility, courage and visionary leadership whose impact has transcended generations and national boundaries.”
The lawmaker commended the Archbishop for providing exceptional spiritual guidance to countless sons and daughters around the world, describing her ministry as one rooted in wisdom, compassion and godly counsel.
Drawing from the Holy Scriptures, Imasuen likened Archbishop Idahosa to the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31:26, who “opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” He also compared her leadership to that of Deborah, who arose as a mother in Israel, Priscilla, whose sound teaching strengthened the early Church, and Lois and Eunice, whose godly influence shaped generations of believers.
According to him, her steadfast commitment to sustaining and expanding the legacy of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa remains one of the greatest examples of faithful stewardship in contemporary Christian history.
He further likened her unwavering dedication to the biblical example of Ruth, whose loyalty and commitment ensured the fulfilment of God’s purpose, adding that Archbishop Idahosa has remained resolute in advancing the vision entrusted to the ministry across nations.
Senator Imasuen also acknowledged her immense contributions to evangelism, education, youth development, humanitarian service and moral leadership, stressing that her lifelong service has transformed countless lives, raised leaders and strengthened families in the Christian faith.
Quoting Psalm 92:12–14, he noted that Archbishop Idahosa continues to flourish spiritually at 83, bearing abundant fruit and inspiring millions through her exemplary life of service.
The senator prayed for God’s continued strength, sound health, divine wisdom and many more fruitful years for the revered cleric, expressing confidence that her enduring legacy of faith, compassion and transformational leadership would continue to illuminate the Body of Christ and humanity for generations to come.
