Osun 2026: APC Reviews Results, Mulls Legal Challenge to Adeleke’s Victory

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is weighing its legal options after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.

The party said it is currently reviewing results from all 332 wards across the state before deciding whether to challenge the outcome in court.

In a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi and made available to Uptown Press in Osogbo on Sunday, the APC said the declaration of a winner does not necessarily mark the end of the electoral process, noting that the law provides avenues for dissatisfied parties to seek redress through the Election Petition Tribunal, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

According to the party, its leadership will consult its team of lawyers after completing a comprehensive review of the results and determine whether there are sufficient grounds to pursue legal action.

The APC stressed that any decision to challenge the election would be based on findings from its review and would be pursued strictly within the ambit of the law.

The party also commended its members and supporters for their commitment during the election, urging them to remain calm and refrain from provocative actions while the leadership assesses the results.

INEC declared Adeleke, the Accord candidate, winner after he secured 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11.

With the APC now studying the results and consulting its lawyers, attention is shifting to whether the party will ultimately approach the election tribunal to contest Adeleke’s re-election.

For now, the party says its next move will be determined by the evidence emerging from its review.
