In a strategic move to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed prominent activist Aisha Yesufu as Deputy Chairperson of its newly formed Membership, Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee.
The 20-member committee was inaugurated on Wednesday in Abuja by the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and tasked with overhauling and expanding the ADC’s membership base nationwide.
Kashim Imam, former PDP governorship candidate, was named Chairman, with Yesufu as his deputy and Sekonte Davies as Secretary.
The committee’s mandate includes harmonising existing membership records, revalidating members, registering new supporters and mobilising grassroots engagement.
It has been given 30 days to deliver an interim report to the National Working Committee.
Alongside Yesufu and Imam, the panel features a diverse mix of political figures and activists including Obidient Movement spokesman Yunusa Tanko, former Labour Party governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and several legislators and civic leaders.
Senator Mark emphasised the importance of a credible and verifiable membership register as the foundation for the party’s legitimacy and future political success. He urged committee members to approach their responsibilities with integrity, transparency and a commitment to inclusiveness.
The formation of this committee aligns with broader ADC efforts to deepen its organisational presence, including a nationwide membership drive and planned congresses and conventions as political activities intensify ahead of elections.
