Senator Ned Nwoko has appealed to Nigerians, particularly fans, bloggers and social media commentators, to give his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, privacy and support as she battles undisclosed health challenges.
Nwoko, in a public appeal, urged Nigerians to stop judging, criticising or spreading hurtful reports about the actress, insisting that she needs compassion and adequate space to recover.
He said the situation was particularly sensitive because of their children, who, according to him, deserve to see their mother supported and given every opportunity to regain her health.
The senator disclosed that Regina had endured more than many people realised, adding that a video she shared on her birthday offered the public a glimpse of some of the health challenges she had been facing.
“Right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover,” he said.
Nwoko maintained that, despite the difficulties in their relationship, Regina’s wellbeing remained important to him, stressing that her health concerns were among the issues that brought aspects of their private affairs into the public domain.
He also expressed concern over the circulation of fabricated death announcements, misleading health reports and other disturbing publications about the actress.
According to him, such reports are not harmless social media content, as Regina reportedly sees many of the publications and finds them deeply distressing.
The lawmaker urged her genuine fans to discourage the spread of false information rather than amplify sensational claims for online engagement.
Nwoko further issued a stern warning to bloggers and social media users deliberately publishing fabricated stories about Regina’s death, health and personal circumstances.
He said his team was documenting the offending publications and that those responsible would face appropriate legal action.
“I will not tolerate the deliberate spread of false information about Regina, particularly fabricated reports about her death, health or personal circumstances,” he warned.
The senator insisted that the actress deserved an opportunity to recover without being subjected to a fresh wave of rumours and fabricated reports.
His appeal comes amid heightened public attention surrounding the actress’s personal life and health, with calls for restraint and respect for her privacy.
