The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reconstituted the Central Coordination Committee for its 2026 National Convention in a swift recalibration of its convention machinery that saw the appointment of former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari as chairman in a key leadership shake-up.
The changes were confirmed by the party’s National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, in a statement posted on the APC’s official X page. Masari replaces Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who has now been reassigned as Treasurer of the committee following further consultations with party leaders and stakeholders.
The reconstitution comes just days after the initial committee was unveiled, signalling what party insiders describe as a fine-tuning process as preparations gather pace for the convention scheduled for March 27 and 28.
As part of the overhaul, the APC expanded the committee’s membership from 73 to 90, a move aimed at widening participation and strengthening internal representation. The enlarged list includes several prominent party figures, among them Senator Barry Mpigi.
The updated leadership structure also features former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim as Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been named Vice Chairman II. Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni retains his position as Secretary of the committee.
The ruling party said the adjustments were designed to ensure a more inclusive and effective coordination process ahead of the convention, which is expected to culminate in the election of new members of the National Working Committee.
The APC further disclosed that additional sub-committees would be constituted and announced in the coming days, as organisational activities intensify towards what is shaping up to be a closely watched national convention.
