Auchi Polytechnic Lecturer killed by Younger Brother Over Family Inheritance Dispute

A lecturer from Auchi Polytechnic, Braimah Rasheed, has been killed by his younger brother, Odion Braimah in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The fatal confrontation, Uptown Press learned was sparked by a protracted dispute over their family’s inheritance, leaving two brothers dead in a devastating episode of violence.

According to local reports, Odion ambushed and fatally shot Braimah, after being influenced by a seer who allegedly convinced him that his elder brother was the source of their family’s misfortunes. Braimah was on his way to a funeral at Solo Street in the Iyekhei Quarters when he was killed.

Following the gruesome act, outraged members of the community apprehended Odion as he attempted to flee the scene. Furious at the murder, a mob descended upon him, beat him severely, and set him ablaze in a retaliatory act of vigilante justice.

The Rasheed family had reportedly been in conflict over inheritance matters, with sources revealing that Odion was particularly upset with Braimah’s perceived indifference towards the plight of their third sibling, who is currently imprisoned abroad.
Family associates, still in shock, expressed their disbelief at the tragic outcome of the feud.

Braimah has since been buried, and the Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder and the subsequent mob action.
Authorities are urging calm while they work to bring those involved in the violence to justice.
