Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to sustain his focus on good governance and continue addressing the needs of residents following his re-election.
Obasanjo advised during a surprise congratulatory visit to Adeleke at his country home in Ede on Sunday night, August 16, 2026.
The former president congratulated Adeleke on his victory and prayed for further success as he prepares to begin another term in office.
Obasanjo specifically urged the governor to remain focused on delivering democratic dividends and meeting the needs of the people.
“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” he told Adeleke.
Adeleke expressed appreciation for the former president’s surprise visit and promised to remain committed to serving the people of Osun State.
The visit came a day after the governor was declared the winner of the August 15 Osun governorship election, where he secured 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
Obasanjo’s latest message also echoes his previous calls for elected leaders to prioritise service to the people and strengthen democracy through effective governance.
