The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal has made a significant ruling regarding the Plateau State governorship election.
The court has ordered that Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) be recognized as the duly elected governor of the state, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Mutfwang Manasseh, was not validly sponsored during the election.
The court held that the PDP had violated the court’s order by conducting Congress in only 5 local government areas instead of the required 17 local government areas, rendering the Congress a nullity.
The decision of the Plateau State tribunal was dismissed, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was ordered to retrieve the certificate of return issued to Governor Manasseh and issue a fresh one to Goshwe.
