President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will consume approximately 2.5 per cent of all globally traded crude oil, underscoring the facility’s massive scale and strategic importance to the global energy market.
Dangote made the disclosure on Wednesday while receiving the Minister of State for Industry, John Enoh, who led a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Industry on an inspection tour of the Dangote Refinery, Dangote Petrochemicals Complex and Dangote Fertiliser Limited in Lagos.
The billionaire industrialist said the refinery’s crude oil demand reflects its position as one of the world’s largest single-train refineries and highlights Nigeria’s growing influence in the global downstream petroleum industry.
He noted that the facility’s capacity to process such a significant volume of crude oil places it among the world’s most important refining assets, with the potential to strengthen energy security, reduce dependence on imported petroleum products and boost Nigeria’s industrialisation drive.
The minister and his delegation toured the state-of-the-art refinery alongside the petrochemicals and fertiliser plants, where they were briefed on the operations, production capacity and the group’s contribution to manufacturing, employment and economic development.
The visit formed part of the Federal Government’s efforts to assess key industrial investments driving economic growth and expanding Nigeria’s productive capacity.
