Edo Commissioner for Livestock Development Assumes Office, Charges Staff on CSR, Teamwork

The newly deployed Commissioner for Livestock Development, Hon. Ohimai Ehijimetor, has assumed office with a call on staff to uphold the Civil Service Rules (CSR), maintain discipline and embrace teamwork to advance the mandate of the Ministry.
Hon. Ehijimetor gave the charge at the Ministry of Livestock Development in Benin City, during his maiden interaction with management and staff, where he expressed appreciation for their support and urged them to adhere strictly to established administrative procedures and reporting lines. “First of all, I want everybody to follow the Civil Service Rules. unit heads should report to directors, and directors to the Permanent Secretary and the Honourable Commissioner,” he guided.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of cooperation and a positive attitude among staff, noting that harmonious working relationships were essential to achieving the Ministry’s objectives. In his words, “The way things will work in the Ministry is based on cooperation and being positive-minded towards one another.”
Hon. Ehijimetor described the Livestock Sector as an important component of the administration of the Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, stressing the need for unity of purpose and collective commitment to achieving meaningful results. He expressed his determination to drive progress in the Sector, noting that the success of the Ministry would depend largely on the dedication of its workforce.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Anelu Wilson, admonished staff to cultivate discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He encouraged employees to promptly bring work-related challenges to the attention of Management, noting that open communication would contribute to a healthier work environment, improved productivity and effective service delivery.
Highpoint of the engagement was a guided tour of the Ministry and livestock-related facilities located within the Agric Hub, including the cold-chain facility, fish farm and poultry facility, among others, by the Commissioner.
