2027: Senator Imasuen Disowns Unauthorised Senatorial Poster, Threatens Legal Action

Senator Neda Imasuen has distanced himself from a political poster circulating online ahead of the 2027 Edo South Senatorial District election, describing the use of his name and photograph as unauthorised, misleading and mischievous.

The poster, which features Imasuen alongside other individuals presented as political contenders, has prompted the Edo South Senator to issue a strong warning against what he described as an attempt to create confusion over his political status and intentions.

In a signed statement issued by his Media Aide, Moshood Karim, the Senator declared that he is not the candidate of the Labour Party or any other political party for the 2027 general election.

He also made it clear that he neither authorised the publication nor gave consent for his name, photograph or identity to be used in portraying him as a candidate.

“The use of Senator Imasuen’s image in the poster is unauthorised, misleading and mischievous, and is capable of creating unnecessary confusion about his political status and intentions,” the statement said.

Imasuen further stressed that he had earlier publicly accepted the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary process and had not authorised anyone to circulate political materials suggesting otherwise.

The Senator specifically warned Prince Omokhodion Okojie and all individuals, sponsors or promoters connected with the publication to immediately stop any further unauthorised use of his name, photograph or identity.

He vowed not to allow his hard-earned reputation and public image to be exploited for political ambitions or narratives with which he has no association.

The statement warned that any further unauthorised use of Imasuen’s identity would be taken seriously and could attract appropriate legal action.

The Senator also urged members of the public to disregard the circulating poster and any other political material that falsely portrays him in a manner contrary to his publicly stated position.

The development has put promoters of the controversial poster on notice, with Imasuen making it clear that his name and image must not be dragged into political activities or ambitions he has neither endorsed nor authorised.
