The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, has lauded the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Edo State Chapter, for its sustained humanitarian interventions, following the association’s outreach to children at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Uhogua, Edo State.
The outreach, held on Saturday as part of activities marking the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, brought smiles to the faces of displaced children and their families as POWA distributed food items, educational materials, clothing and other relief supplies.
The delegation, led by the Chairperson of POWA, Mrs Helen Ada Agbonika, also organised games, recreational activities and interactive sessions aimed at boosting the children’s confidence, happiness and sense of belonging.
Commending the gesture, CP Agbonika described the initiative as a reflection of the caring and community-oriented values of the Nigeria Police Force, noting that POWA has continued to complement the efforts of the Command through impactful humanitarian and social support programmes.
He stressed that children remain the future of society and deserve continuous love, protection, care and support regardless of their circumstances.
“Children are the future of our society and must continually be shown love, care, protection and support irrespective of their circumstances,” the police commissioner stated.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs Agbonika encouraged the children not to lose hope despite the challenges they face, urging them to embrace education and remain focused on building a brighter future.
The event ended on a joyful note as the children expressed appreciation for the kindness and generosity shown to them, describing the Children’s Day celebration as memorable and uplifting.
