Edo Guber: Outgoing and Incoming Transition Committees hold Inaugural Meeting

The inaugural meeting of the Edo State Government Transition Committees was held today in Benin City, signalling the commencement of the formal handover process between the outgoing and incoming administrations.

The meeting took place at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, with full representation from both the outgoing and incoming governments.

The event saw the participation of the 20-member committee representing the outgoing government and the 24-member committee from the incoming administration, tasked with ensuring a seamless transition of power.

Addressing attendees at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Joseph Eboigbe, underscored the importance of the transition exercise in promoting continuity in governance.

According to Mr. Eboigbe, the outgoing committee’s mandate includes compiling a comprehensive register of all on-going and completed projects.

Additionally, they are expected to facilitate the transfer of institutional knowledge to the incoming administration, as well as offer recommendations based on documented evidence gathered during their tenure.

He further emphasised that the goal of the transition is to ensure that governance in the state continues smoothly without disruptions, as the new administration prepares to take over leadership. The cooperation between both committees, he noted, is essential in maintaining the progress the state has achieved over the years.

The meeting marks a critical step in the handover process, and both committees are expected to collaborate closely in the coming weeks to ensure a successful transition of power.

This transition comes as the Edo State governorship election recently concluded, and the new administration prepares to take office, with hopes for continued development and policy implementation across the state.
