Edo Police Command Pays Insurance Benefits, Promotes 21 Officers, Honours Outstanding Personnel

The Edo State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Monday Agbonika, has reaffirmed its commitment to personnel welfare, motivation, and professionalism with the payment of insurance benefits, promotion of officers, and presentation of awards to outstanding personnel.

The event, held during the Commandโ€™s End-of-the-Month Conference at the Police Officersโ€™ Mess in Benin City, featured the presentation of insurance benefit cheques to deserving claimants under the Group Life Assurance, Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare, and Group Personal Accident Schemes. The gesture, according to the Command, reflects the Nigeria Police Forceโ€™s sustained dedication to the wellbeing of its personnel and the families of fallen heroes.

A total of 21 officers were also decorated with their new ranks following their promotion by the Police Service Commission. The promoted officers include those elevated from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Superintendent of Police (SP) and from Superintendent of Police (SP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, CP Agbonika urged them to rededicate themselves to service, uphold discipline, and demonstrate professionalism in carrying out their duties.

โ€œPromotion comes with higher responsibility and renewed commitment to protecting lives and property,โ€ he said, charging the officers to continue to uphold the core values of the Force.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to best-performing officers in recognition of their outstanding service and dedication. The awards, supported by Barrister Emmanuel Afolabi, SAN, a friend of the Command, were designed to inspire integrity, diligence, and excellence among officers.

CP Agbonika expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his continuous support and unwavering focus on officer welfare and capacity building.

He reaffirmed the Commandโ€™s determination to sustain peace, law, and order across Edo State, assuring residents of the policeโ€™s steadfast commitment to their safety and security.
