In a continued effort to strengthen rehabilitation and reintegration programmes for vulnerable groups, the Edo State Government has successfully hosted the 4 Pins Homecoming Fashion Gala and Exhibition, reaffirming its commitment to skill acquisition and youth empowerment.
The initiative, implemented through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, marked the successful completion of a structured skill acquisition programme for 30 juveniles from correctional centres.
The beneficiaries were trained and certified in practical vocational skills designed to enhance self-reliance and facilitate their smooth reintegration into society.
The Government commended the vision behind the initiative, noting that partnerships with private sector actors and development-driven individuals remain critical to expanding opportunities for young people, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances.
The programme, which achieved the training and certification of participants within a five-week period, was described as a laudable milestone in the State’s broader rehabilitation framework.
Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Bisi Idaomi Esq., expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, for his sustained support and strategic direction in advancing policies that prioritize human capital development and social inclusion.
She emphasized that the programme aligns with the State Government’s overarching objective of empowering citizens through targeted interventions, adding that plans are underway to scale up similar initiatives to reach over 3,000 beneficiaries across Edo State.
The Commissioner further applauded the resilience, discipline, and potential of the beneficiaries, reiterating Government’s commitment to creating enabling platforms that allow them to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.
