Pastor Mrs Owolabi, wife of Pastor Juwon Owolabi of Lightlife Church International, has sparked conversations about marital intimacy after declaring that women who die without experiencing orgasm have lived a wasted life.
The cleric made the statement while speaking on sexual intimacy during a programme tagged Marriage That Works, where she urged married women to understand their sexuality and enjoy intimacy with their husbands rather than viewing sex solely as a means of procreation.
“If you die without experiencing orgasm, you’ve lived a wasted life,” she declared. “God created sex, God instituted sex, and as a woman, you have the right to enjoy orgasm.”
Mrs Owolabi emphasised that sexual satisfaction should be an important part of marriage, encouraging women to take an active interest in understanding their bodies and improving intimacy with their spouses.
Recounting her personal experience, the pastor disclosed that she entered marriage as a virgin and initially had limited knowledge of sexual intimacy beyond what she had learned from biology.
She said she subsequently realised that understanding intimacy required deliberate learning and personal effort.
“I knew that, okay, I need to understand because this is a body of knowledge, this is like a university,” she explained.
The pastor also challenged the perception that certain sexual practices are unacceptable within marriage, insisting that couples should be willing to learn and explore ways to improve their intimate relationships.
“God is not against other styles in marriage,” she added.
Her husband, Pastor Juwon Owolabi, also contributed to the discussion, arguing that sexual intimacy should not decline with age if couples take proper care of themselves.
Referencing biblical accounts involving Abraham and his later marriage to Keturah, Pastor Juwon maintained that advancing age should not necessarily diminish intimacy between married couples.
“If you take care of yourself, the older you become, the better it should be,” he said.
