EdoSUBEB Chairman Rounds Off 2024/2025 Academic Session with School Visits

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Ebanehita Sonia Omonzane, has rounded off the 2024/2025 academic session with a series of visits to schools across the State, in a move aimed at addressing identified challenges and improving the quality of basic education.

The visits, which took place at the close of the academic session, were part of the Board’s routine monitoring and evaluation efforts. Hon. Omonzane engaged directly with school heads and teachers to gather feedback on issues faced during the term, commend efforts made, and identify areas for improvement.

She praised teachers for their dedication throughout the academic year, assuring them that their concerns would be reviewed with a view to enhancing teaching and learning in the coming session. The Chairman also issued a stern warning against the exploitation of pupils through child labour, stressing that every child in Edo State has the right to quality, uninterrupted education.

“Education remains a central focus of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration,” Hon. Omonzane said. “All stakeholders must work together to realise the government’s vision for a reformed and inclusive basic education sector.”

She further reiterated that basic education in Edo State is free and called on school administrators to enforce this policy strictly, ensuring that no child is denied access due to financial constraints.

As part of her oversight activities, Hon. Omonzane inspected the ongoing construction at Eko-Iyobhebhe Primary School in Irrua. She reassured staff and pupils of the government’s commitment to completing education infrastructure projects swiftly, creating safe and conducive environments for learning across the state.
