Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District, has called on Muslims to uphold the values of love, peace, tolerance and unity as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.
Imasuen, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, made the call in his goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah in Edo South, Edo State and across the world on the occasion commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
The senator said the celebration should serve as a period of deep reflection on the exemplary life and enduring teachings of Prophet Muhammad, particularly his message of compassion, justice, tolerance, love and peaceful coexistence.
He noted that the Prophet’s life remained a source of guidance for humanity and urged the faithful to renew their commitment to the noble virtues he exemplified.
Quoting the Holy Qur’an, Surah Al-Anbiya, Chapter 21, Verse 107, Imasuen said: “And We have not sent you, O Muhammad, except as a mercy to the worlds.”
According to the lawmaker, the verse underscores the universal message of mercy, compassion and goodwill associated with the life and mission of Prophet Muhammad.
Imasuen urged Muslims across Edo South to continue promoting mutual respect and peaceful coexistence in their communities, stressing that unity remained critical to the security, development and progress of the senatorial district.
“On this auspicious occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to uphold the values of love, peace, compassion and unity. Let us reject division and embrace the bonds that unite us as one people committed to the progress of Edo South and our dear nation,” he said.
The senator prayed for sustained peace, prosperity and continued development across Edo South and Nigeria.
He also wished Muslims a joyous and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
