The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishment of Nigeria (APPMEN) has paid glowing tribute to fathers in the media industry, describing them as unsung heroes whose sacrifices continue to shape both their families and the nation.
In a Father’s Day message issued on Sunday, APPMEN commended media proprietors across Nigeria for balancing the demands of running media organisations with the responsibilities of fatherhood.
The association noted that many media fathers work tirelessly behind the scenes—operating radio and television stations, publishing newspapers, and managing digital platforms—while ensuring their families are cared for and their children receive quality education.
According to APPMEN, these fathers serve as guardians of truth in the public sphere and role models at home, combining professional excellence with parental commitment.
“You are fathers at home and fathers of truth in the public space. You balance deadlines with school fees, breaking news with bedtime stories, editorial responsibility with parental duty,” the association stated.
APPMEN praised media entrepreneurs for investing in the future of journalism by mentoring young professionals and sustaining institutions that strengthen democracy despite economic and operational challenges.
The association also recognised fathers who prioritise the welfare of their employees, as well as father figures who have kept community media organisations alive and thriving over the years.
“Your work informs Nigeria. Your fatherhood builds Nigeria,” APPMEN declared.
The association offered prayers for strength, good health, prosperity, and continued success for all fathers and father figures in the media industry, expressing hope that their media establishments would flourish and their legacies endure.
