NMA Honours Edo Lawmaker, Dr. Richard Edosa with Public Health Award

Hon. Dr. Richard Osaro Edosa, the Member representing Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has been honoured with the prestigious Custodian of Public Health Award by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Edo State Branch.

The award was presented during the 2026 Leadership in Health Award Ceremony held at Drs House, Ugbowo, Benin City, in recognition of the lawmaker’s sustained contributions to the advancement of healthcare and public health in Edo State.

Dr. Edosa, who also serves as Chairman of the Edo State House of Assembly Committee on Health and Deputy Chief Whip of the House, was recognised for his commitment to health sector development and policies aimed at improving the wellbeing of residents across the state.

Speaking after receiving the award, the lawmaker described the recognition as a humbling honour and dedicated it to healthcare professionals whose daily efforts keep communities healthy and safe.

“This award is deeply humbling. It belongs to every doctor, nurse, health worker, and stakeholder who works tirelessly to protect the health of our people,” he said.

“As a medical practitioner myself, I understand the challenges and the opportunities in our health sector. I remain fully committed to using my position to strengthen healthcare delivery, support our health institutions, and ensure that quality healthcare reaches every community in Oredo West and across Edo State.”

Edosa further dedicated the award to the people of Oredo West Constituency and healthcare workers across Edo State, reaffirming his determination to continue championing health sector reforms and people-centred legislation.
