Winners of the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina set to receive the exclusive honour alongside the iconic trophy.
The groundbreaking initiative marks the first time football’s world governing body has adopted the championship ring tradition popular in American sports, giving the new world champions a unique symbol of their triumph.
FIFA has produced exactly 2,026 individually numbered and custom-fitted championship rings for the tournament. Of these, 30 rings have been reserved exclusively for the victorious team’s players and staff, while the remaining 1,996 rings will be released worldwide as official licensed merchandise for fans.
Each ring features the FIFA World Cup trophy on one side, while the opposite side will be customised to reflect the identity of the winning nation.
Immediately after Sunday’s final at the New York New Jersey Stadium, temporary championship rings will be presented on the pitch to the winning captain and head coach before the permanent custom-fitted versions are formally handed to the entire squad at a later ceremony.
For the first time in the tournament’s nearly 100-year history, the World Cup winners will leave with more than the famous trophy and winners’ medals. They will become the inaugural recipients of the official FIFA World Cup Championship Ring, creating a new chapter in football history.
Meanwhile, the White House has confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the blockbuster final on July 19. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is also expected to attend a FIFA reception in New York before kickoff.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has also confirmed that Trump is expected to join him during the post-match trophy presentation ceremony, continuing the tradition of world leaders participating in football’s biggest occasion.
With football’s ultimate prize at stake and a historic new symbol of greatness awaiting the champions, Sunday’s showdown between Spain and Argentina promises to be one of the most memorable World Cup finals ever staged.
