Man Arrested While Allegedly Dumping Woman’s Body in Ajah Canal

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man who was allegedly caught attempting to dispose of the body of a woman in a canal along Monastery Road in the Ajah area of Lagos.

The incident, which occurred on July 14, is being investigated as a suspected murder case.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adebisi Abimbola, the command received credible information that the suspect had allegedly killed a yet-to-be-identified woman and was trying to dump her body in a canal at Mopo, Ajah.

The suspect was reportedly intercepted by security guards in the area before he could flee, after which the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) promptly led a team of officers to the scene and took him into police custody.

A video circulating on social media shows the lifeless body of the deceased inside the canal, sparking outrage among residents and online users.

Police said the woman’s body was recovered and evacuated to the General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, where it has been deposited for preservation and autopsy.

The suspect remains in police custody, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for a comprehensive investigation.

The Lagos State Police Command said efforts are ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.
