Fraud: NPower Minister- Sadiya Farouq faces CCB investigation over COVID-19 palliative, school feeding scam

The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Faruk, the Permanent Secretary, and some Directors will soon face the CCB Tribunal over fraudulent distributions of the palliatives during COVID-19 lockdown.

It would be recalled that, the Chairman of the Bureau, Muhammad Isah, who is a professor of law, inaugurated a sub-committee on the distribution of palliatives, Homegrown School feeding, and conditional cash transfer during the COVID-19 with Barrister Ben Umeano as the head.

ThisNigeria reports that the Chairman of the Bureau might have gotten the go-ahead from President Mohammadu Buhari following a series of complaints received over the way and manner the palliatives were distributed.

Barrister Ben Umeano, the Commissioner representing South East on the Board and Chairman of the committee said when ThisNigeria contacted him that, it is true that they are investigating the distribution of palliatives during Covid19 whether it falls within the civil service trust.

Our reporter also gathered that the sub-committee is not only investigating the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs alone but also the Ministry of Health and Nigeria Center for Disease Control.

Our source further said, “Yes, the investigation has started, some persons have been invited, it is dishearted to know the massive fraud committed during the Covid19 period.

“Can you imagine that during the lockdown, the records available to us showed that School feeding was on with billions spent?

“On cash transfer, many states have also sent in their complaints, especially Lagos State. foreign, individual donors equally complained. the distribution of palliatives was turned into personal use, some kickstart emergency supermarkets.

“I can assure you that any of the persons charged with the responsibility of handly the distributions that get involved in the fraudulent art after our full investigation, will surely face the law as established in the Code of Conduct Act.

Professor Muhammad Isah, chairman of the bureau had earlier while inaugurating the committee called for synergy between the anti-corruption agencies, noting that the problem of corruption cannot be successfully tackled by one agency.
