The police authority in Delta State has arrested three boys in possession of human skulls in Delta State.
Also arrested is a 60-year-old man caught with two human skulls.
According to the state command’s Ag. Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, the boys namely, Monday Nwite, 27; Maduabuchi Nweke, 26 and Nwite Sunday, 21, were on transit from Asaba to Kwale in a commercial Sienna bus on June 28, 2021 at about 11:45am when the bubble burst.
As the bus conveying the alleged ritualists-trio got to Nsukwa junction, on the Ogwashi-Uku/Kwale Road, Team 31 of the State’s Dragon Patrol, on a routine stop-and-search operation, flagged down the vehicle and ordered all the passengers to alight and submit themselves for a search.
In the process, a container, filled with fresh human blood, was recovered from the boys, all of Ebenta village in Ohaukwu LGA, Ebonyi State, following which, they were arrested.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have murdered some unknown persons in Ebonyi State and were on their way with the murdered person’s blood to a native doctor, whose identity is unknown for now, but resides in Kwale. They were taking the blood to the said native doctor for ritual purpose”, PPRO said, adding that one rosary necklace, tied with charms was also recovered from them.
According to the release, a 60-year-old man Godfrey Akpudje, has also been arrested by police operatives attached to Isiokolo Division in Delta State.
Godfrey’s arrest was as a result of a complaint lodged at the division by one Ejiro Okoro (m), 35, on June 24, 2021, to the effect that his late sister’s grave had been dug and the corpse exhumed.
The 65-year-old deceased (name withheld), in the complainant’s narrative, died sometime in 2019 and was buried at Ekpan Ovu.
“On the strength of this report, the DPO Isiokolo Division swung into action, and detailed police detectives to investigate. During the course of investigation, information gathered through intelligence, revealed that it was one Godfrey Akpudje (m), 60 years of age, who happens to be a native doctor that exhumed the corpse, and removed the skull.
“He was immediately arrested and two human skulls were recovered from him. He said he got one of the human skulls from Osun State from a native doctor who is now late. Investigation is ongoing” the Delta State Police PPRO stated.
