Governor Monday Okpebholo has terminated the appointment of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited, Ms Tinyan Otuomagie, with immediate effect.
The decision was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Uwuilekhue Saturday Idehen Otuomagie, who said the governor had approved the move as part of ongoing administrative adjustments within the state-owned company.
According to the statement, Mr Smart Aigbodion, the company’s General Manager in charge of Maintenance, has been appointed Acting Managing Director to take over leadership of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited.
“The Edo State Government wishes to inform the general public that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, has approved the termination of the appointment of Ms Tinyan Otuomagie as the Managing Director/CEO of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited, with immediate effect,” the statement read.
It added that Ms Otuomagie has been redeployed to the Edo State Ministry of Information for other duties as may be assigned by the state government.
Ms Otuomagie’s removal comes barely months after her appointment to head the state-owned transport firm. Before assuming the role, she served as Director of Social Media to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a former governorship candidate in Edo State and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
No official reason was given for the termination, but the government said the changes were in line with efforts to strengthen service delivery and reposition public institutions for efficiency.
Mr Aigbodion is expected to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company in an acting capacity while the government takes further decisions on the leadership of the transport firm.
