Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has terminated the appointment of Aigbodion Ewanifo Smart as Acting Managing Director of New Edo Line Limited over alleged managerial inefficiency.
The governor has appointed Engr. Paul F. Ogedegbe as the new Managing Director of the state-owned transport company.
The twin decisions were announced in a government special announcement dated October 18, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the announcement, both the termination of Smart’s appointment and Ogedegbe’s appointment take immediate effect.
However, the state government did not provide further details on the alleged managerial inefficiency that led to Smart’s removal.
It also did not disclose the new managing director’s immediate plans for the company or outline any specific reforms expected under his leadership.
Ogedegbe now assumes leadership of New Edo Line Limited as the Okpebholo administration makes changes to the management of the state-owned transport firm.
