A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe has said he will solve the problem of water scarcity and supply across Edo Central Senatorial district popularly known as Esanland to reduce the sufferings of the people.

He equally stated that the hardship faced by commuters and other road users following the deplorable condition of the Benin-Auchi Highway which conects Edo Central to the North and Southern parts of the state would receive priority attention within a month, if given the mandate as governor in the forthcoming governorship election.

Umakhihe made the pledges during separate visits to APC leaders and delegates across the Five Local Government Councils in Edo Central Senatorial Zone, namely, Esan West , Esan Central, Esan South-East, Esan North-East and Igueben.

While promising to sink boreholes in the rural communities to ensure supply of portable water to the people, Umakhihe said the major challenges of the people in Edo Central is lack of water for human consumption and for farming purposes, as well as bad roads among others.

He said, :”Federal Roads can be fixed by state government and the government in turn can easily reach out to the federal government for refund. All we need is to have an understanding with the federal government which is lacking in the PDP led Obaseki Government.

“If I get this position of governor. In one month, you would not see this chaotic gridlock on the Benin Ekpoma Auchi highway again. This long queues of trailers trying to navigate to their various destinations for several days
on the highway due to bad roads is unacceptable.

“I have the blueprint for the development of Edo state. On Agriculture, I know Esanland is known for rice farming. Before now, we used to hear of Ekpoma rice and Illushi Rice, but no more. I will bring back irrigation system of farming to boost farming in Esanland. In the Northern part of the country, irrigation is what they use for their farms. We can also do it in Edo state to improve our farming to boost productivity.” he said.

The APC leaders from the senatorial zone including Mr. Bello Oyaziwolo and Comrade Godday Okhilua, Esan Central and Esan West APC respectively expressed readiness to ensure victory for the party ahead of the September 21st Governorship election saying the time has come for the party to reclaim the state.
