Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, shared a heartfelt testimony on Wednesday night, revealing the spiritual journey that led to his victory in the 21st September governorship election.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the Governor attributed his success to God’s grace, constant prayers, and the unwavering support of the people of Edo State.

In a moving address, Governor Okpebholo recalled how, just before the election results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he experienced a symbolic moment that strengthened his faith.
He revealed that he found a dead bat on his bed the morning after the election, an event he interpreted as a divine sign of victory. “I want to thank God. While others were using media to attack me, I turned to God for the victory. Even after the election, I found a dead bat on my bed without any external cause, and I believe that was the hand of God at work,” he said.

The Governor recounted how, during the election campaign, his detractors ridiculed him, but he remained resolute in his faith.
“I didn’t consult any native doctor or seek help from any shrine or prophet,” he stressed, highlighting that his sole source of strength throughout the electioneering process was God.

Governor Okpebholo encouraged Nigerians to place their trust in God, regardless of life’s challenges. “With God, all things are possible,” he told the congregation. The Thanksgiving service was attended by a diverse group of dignitaries, including political leaders, religious figures, and popular musicians, all of whom gathered to celebrate the Governor’s victory and give thanks for the divine intervention he believes guided him to success.
