61st anniversary: Auchi Polytechnic Confers National Diplomas on Over 37,000 Graduates

The Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, a premier technical institution in Edo State, celebrated a major milestone by awarding National Diploma (ND) certificates to 37,061 students over the last four years.
The conferral took place during the institution’s 61st anniversary, which also marked the combined 26th-29th convocation ceremony for National Diploma programs.

Dr. Salisu Umar, Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, announced the achievement in his address, noting that the graduates had successfully completed the rigorous academic and practical requirements of their programs. He disclosed that 22,373 graduates were from the regular program, while an additional 14,688 completed their diplomas through the School of Evening Studies.

Congratulating the graduates, Dr. Umar emphasised the responsibility that comes with their new credentials. “Your National Diploma is the beginning of a journey of scholarship and service to humanity,” he said. “You carry with you the values instilled during your time here and the potential to impact society positively.”

Dr. Umar also urged the graduates to remain connected to their alma mater, highlighting that their actions as alumni would reflect the institution’s reputation. “Wherever life takes you, I trust you to be worthy ambassadors of Auchi Polytechnic,” he added.

Prof. Jonathan Ayuba, Chairman of the Governing Council, also addressed the graduates, encouraging them to take advantage of the National Skills Qualifications Framework recently introduced by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
He highlighted Auchi Polytechnic’s role as a certified center for skills acquisition in the South-South region, underscoring the importance of blending technical skills with academic qualifications.

Commending the rector on hosting his first convocation since his appointment in 2022, Ayuba expressed hope for continued improvements in the institution’s learning environment and a commitment to practical skill development.
