Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has publicly apologised for announcing the end of his marriage on social media, admitting that personal matters should have remained private.

Bashir had earlier stirred reactions online after revealing on X that his marriage to Halima Kazaure had ended, attributing the split to what he described as “Gen Z wahala.”

The disclosure quickly gained attention across social media platforms, with many users weighing in on the development.

However, in a subsequent post, Bashir appeared to backtrack, acknowledging that making the information public was an error.

“I made a mistake. Personal matters should be kept private,” he wrote, expressing regret over the public nature of the announcement.

Bashir and Halima, daughter of former Labour and Productivity Minister Ibrahim Kazaure, got married in 2020. The couple welcomed a set of twins the following year.

Despite his apology, Bashir continued to engage social media users, exchanging light-hearted banter with some commenters as discussions about the failed marriage continued online.
