The bush inspector of Obaretin Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, has tragically passed away following a sudden collapse after playing in a friendly football match to celebrate the festive season.
Identified only as Osagie, the local official, known affectionately as Osurugede, was playing in the novelty match to mark the 2024 Christmas celebrations when he suddenly slumped and lost his life. Despite efforts to seek medical help, Osagie’s health rapidly deteriorated before he could be attended to by professionals.
Sources within the community revealed that the devastating event has left both his family and the wider community in a state of shock and mourning. “His death has been a huge blow to us all,” a source remarked.
In the months leading up to the tragedy, Osagie had made a notable personal change by shaving off his dreadlocks, an act that left many within his community reflecting on how suddenly the incident unfolded.
Survived by his wife and children, it is believed that respiratory complications may have contributed to his untimely passing. His family, along with local residents, continue to grieve, struggling to come to terms with the loss of a beloved figure.
