Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has revealed that the death of his mother earlier this year was the reason he slowed down his musical activities, putting an emotional explanation behind his relatively low profile this year.
The “Buga” hitmaker disclosed the painful loss in a response to a fan on X who suggested that his absence from the music scene could be linked to preparations for a new album.
Kizz Daniel clarified that his break had nothing to do with a new project.
“I paused for my Mom not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year,” the singer said.
The revelation triggered an outpouring of sympathy from fans, who flooded the singer with condolences and messages of support.
The loss adds to a series of personal tragedies the artiste has experienced over the years. Kizz Daniel lost his father in 2015 and also suffered the loss of one of his triplets in 2021.
In November 2024, the singer also announced the death of his mother-in-law following a battle with breast cancer.
Despite the painful losses, Kizz Daniel said he has chosen to keep moving for the sake of the rest of his family.
His revelation also offered fans a glimpse into the personal circumstances behind his reduced musical presence, underscoring that his absence was linked to grief rather than a lack of activity or a new album rollout.
Fans have continued to send prayers and condolences to the singer and his family as he navigates the difficult period.
May his mother’s soul rest in peace.
