Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has secured the All Progressives Congress ticket for the Agege Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Obasa emerged unopposed after delegates across the 13 wards in the constituency unanimously endorsed his candidacy during the APC primary.
The development marks a major political victory for the long-serving Lagos Assembly Speaker, whose emergence was described by party leaders and supporters as a reward for loyalty, experience and grassroots political influence in Agege.
Party stakeholders hailed Obasa’s leadership credentials and longstanding impact within the constituency, insisting that his candidacy would guarantee continuity and stronger representation at the National Assembly.
Supporters of the Speaker celebrated the outcome shortly after the primary, describing the smooth and drama-free process as a sharp contrast to controversies, withdrawals and disqualifications witnessed in some APC primaries across the country.
Political observers say Obasa’s unchallenged emergence underscores his firm grip on the Agege political structure and further strengthens his relevance within Lagos APC politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
