Abuja- The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Abuja, has granted a request by Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa to serve legal documents to Rev. Olu Martins through substituted means.
The decision was made on Wednesday by Justice U. K. Kekemeke.
Dennis Idahosa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate for the upcoming September 21, 2024, election in Edo State, filed a N2.15 billion libel suit against Olu Martins, the Deputy Director General of Media and Publicity for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship campaign council.
The suit, numbered FCT/HC/CV/2259/2024 and dated May 8, 2024, accuses Martins of defamation of character.
In the motion, Idahosa’s counsel, I. S. Nwachinemere, argued that the defendant should be served through substituted means, a request that was supported by written arguments.
The court’s decision permits the issuance and service of the writ of summons and other related documents at Martins’ business address, located at 49 Airport Road, Benin City.
The case has been adjourned until October 28, 2024, for a report on the service of the legal documents.
