Nigeria’s National Assembly has resumed plenary after a 10-week annual recess, only to suspend legislative proceedings again until October 13.
The Senate and House of Representatives reconvened on Tuesday, September 30, following their annual break which began on July 23.
Lawmakers were initially scheduled to resume on September 15 but eventually returned two weeks later.
However, instead of settling into full legislative business, both chambers adjourned sitting again, with proceedings now expected to resume on October 13.
The latest adjournment means lawmakers will spend only a brief period back in plenary before proceeding on another break.
The development comes as the National Assembly prepares to tackle pending legislative matters and other issues requiring parliamentary attention in the final months of the year.
The Senate and House had adjourned on July 23 after concluding their first legislative session of the year, with lawmakers scheduled to return in September.
The fresh adjournment to October 13 has effectively extended the interruption in plenary proceedings that began with the July recess.
