Nigerian Senate passes Bill for electronic transmission of election results

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday passed a Bill allowing the transmission of election results to Independent National Electoral Commission.

This is sequel to the calls by concerned Nigerians for a reform in the electoral act.

However, before INEC Before INEC can transmit electronically, NCC must adjudge national coverage is adequate and secure, and National Assembly must approve.

A breakdown of the votingnpattern revealed that, 88 senators voted on the bill. 52 APC senators reject electronic transmission of election results, 36 PDP Senators voted in support without interference from NCC or NASS after Abaribe insisted on individual voting.
