The Offa Descendants’ Union (ODU) has called for a renewed investigation into the high-profile 2018 Offa bank robbery that claimed 33 lives.

In a recent press conference, the ODU demanded that the Kwara State Government and the police intensify efforts to bring to justice all individuals mentioned during the investigation, including prominent figures such as former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed.

These individuals were reportedly linked to the robbery by the convicted criminals during their trial.

This call comes after the Kwara State High Court sentenced five gang leaders to death for their role in the crime. However, the ODU, represented by its chairman Chief Tajudeen Shittu, expressed dissatisfaction with the scope of the investigation, asserting that important questions remain unanswered.

They stressed that the individuals who provided logistical support and vehicles used during the robbery, as well as others implicated by the convicts, have yet to be thoroughly investigated or prosecuted.

The ODU’s statement suggests that the police investigation may have been incomplete and potentially biased, shielding certain individuals from accountability.

The community is therefore demanding a comprehensive and transparent re-investigation of all aspects of the case, insisting that everyone involved, regardless of their status, be brought to justice.
